Digital presence

Europe’s leading specialist supplier of ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles). Argo Vehicles fills the gap between recreational quads and heavy off road equipment. The business has an appointed network of dealers it works with to supply equipment to suit each customer’s requirements. Delivering to a number of market sectors such as forestry, emergency services, construction, agriculture, local authorities, the oil industry and the armed forces; Argo Vehicles was conscious that it holds personal customer data and has a strong digital presence to market the business leaving it at risk of criminal interest and cyber attacks.

IT security is already on the agenda

Assign-IT already has IT security measures in place for Argo Vehicles, but with a business that has an online presence and is supplying to a world-wide customer base, Argo Vehicles Ltd wanted to take IT security to the next level and have something in place to demonstrate to their clients that they are taking cyber threat seriously.

Argo Vehicles Ltd is aware of data security and has always been conscious of protecting confidential information. Ann Revitt, Office Manager at Argo Vehicles Ltd explains,

‘As well as Assign-IT making sure we have the right IT security in place, we have always ensured we destroy all printed material that contains sensitive information such as invoicing or other financial/legal documents. You hear too many bad stories these days to not make sure you do things properly.’

Speaking to Assign-IT’s Commercial Director, David Privett, Argo Vehicles Ltd decided that the Cyber Essentials scheme was the right certification to go for. Being certified for a Government-backed scheme was important to the business because of its Government based customers.

David explains,

‘It is great that Argo Vehicles Ltd recognise the risk of cyber-threat and the associated value of Cyber Essentials. By gaining certification they are ensuring they have a standard level of assurance in place which they can demonstrate to the market’.

Upping their game with minimal business impact

After discussing Cyber Essentials internally, Ann gave Assign-IT the green light to go ahead with the certification. Knowing that Assign-IT would be looking after the process assured Ann that the route to certification would be managed correctly. Ann explains, ‘We have been with Assign-IT for a number of years and we know that if they say they will do something, it is done and done properly. They made us aware of the certification and explained why it was relevant to our business. Once put into context, we knew it was a no-brainer’.

Whilst Argo Vehicles Ltd. needed to be involved with the certification, Assign-IT made sure that it was managed as efficiently as possible and that they kept momentum. Dan Creedon, Assign-IT’s Technical & Security Architect took Argo through the process from helping to define what is in and out of scope, carrying out the gap analysis, helping to implement any changes required by the certification such as policies; and working with Ann to submit the questionnaire and official assessment for certification.

Dan explains,

‘Whilst our clients must understand what is being done and why changes are being made to ensure they maintain the controls; we want to help our clients achieve certification with minimal impact to their own business as they are juggling the certification with their own work.’

Ann concludes,

‘The process was seamless and I’m really pleased we have achieved certification. We are going to add the Cyber Essentials logo to our website and other marketing collateral as it is a great tool as assure future customers that their data is safe when they work with Argo Vehicles.’
